چکیده
Ground penetrating radar (GPR), as a newly nondestructive testing technology (NDT), has been adopted to explore the spatial position and structure of tree roots. Due complexity soil distribution randomness root in natural environment, it is difficult locate GPR B-Scan image. In this study, novel method for detection B-scan image by considering both multidirectional features symmetry hyperbola was proposed. Firstly, mixed dataset images were employed train Faster RCNN (Regions with CNN features) obtain potential region. Then, peak area its connected region filtered from four directional gradient graphs proposed The test applied segment intersecting hyperbolas. Finally, two rounds coordinate transformation line based on Hough transform recognition radius estimation. To validate effectiveness approach detection, made, including synthetic data gprMax well field collected 35 ancient roots fresh grapevine controlled experiments. From results estimation root, our shows significant effect detection.

GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) is one of subsurface sensing technologies, which has been used intensively since 1980s. Due to rapid development of both hardware and software, its possibilities have been considerably extended resulting in widening the area of its applications. While such applications as to detection of buried pipes and cables, archaeology and geology are established category, ne...
متن کاملBuried object detection from B-scan ground penetrating radar data using Faster-RCNN
In this paper, we adapt the Faster-RCNN framework for the detection of underground buried objects (i.e. hyperbola reflections) in B-scan ground penetrating radar (GPR) images. Due to the lack of real data for training, we propose to incorporate more simulated radargrams generated from different configurations using the gprMax toolbox. Our designed CNN is first pre-trained on the grayscale Cifar...
متن کاملAutomated Rebar Detection for Ground-Penetrating Radar
Automated rebar detection in images from groundpenetrating radar (GPR) is a challenging problem and difficult to perform in real-time as a result of relatively low contrast images and the size of the images. This paper presents a rebar localization algorithm, which can accurately locate the pixel locations of rebar within a GPR scan image. The proposed algorithm uses image classification and st...
متن کاملUse of ground-penetrating radar to study tree roots in the southeastern United States.
The objectives of our study were to assess the feasibility of using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to study roots over a broad range of soil conditions in the southeastern United States. Study sites were located in the Southern Piedmont, Carolina Sandhills and Atlantic Coast Flatwoods. At each site, we tested for selection of the appropriate antenna (400 MHz versus 1.5 GHz), determined the abil...
